Whom shall we imitate? The kings of old? David learns that kingship is painful and destructive, as are the ways of power of this world. Jesus is confronted with a desire to pigeonhole him into the traditional ties of blood and societal expectations. But the sacramental life is about imitating God in Christ: scandal to the world, but eternal life to those who are called.
