When Jesus speaks to the religious authorities about repentance, he returns to familiar use of the metaphor of the small: coins and solitary sheep. Like the mustard seed and the pearl of great price, he reminds us that it is the small things, and perhaps small things over time, that make a big difference in God's eyes.
